Lemon seeking pay increase for County employees

Right now Cache County Executive Lynn Lemon’s proposed budget does not call for a salary increase for employees. Lemon told the county council Tuesday night that he is hoping before the budget is passed enough money will be found to bring county workers’ salaries closer to what the market pays.Lemon says, in general, Cache County employees are paid less than their peers in other counties and in his words, “we want to attract good people who want to stay.” Lemon said a one percent pay hike for employees would cost approximately $250,000 and a two percent increase, which he prefers, would add about $500,000 to the budget. He is scheduled to present a balanced budget to the council on November 9.
