LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Teachers in Cache County schools are giving up cost-of-living increases after taking a 4-percent salary cut last year. Schools Superintendent Steve Norton applauded teachers for making sacrifices in tough times for the 2010-11 school year. The pact was approved Thursday by the Cache County School Board. Teachers will earn salary steps but made another concession with higher deductibles for health insurance. The $500 deductible for an individual and $1,000 deductible for a family plan will rise to $1,500 and $3,000, respectively. A new health savings account plan for teachers could blunt those higher costs.
