Olsen Corner Park to be dedicated Monday

Monday (June 21) Logan City will join the Olsen family in a Park Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Lynn and Merle Olsen Park, also know as Olsen Corner, at Canyon Road and Center Street. The location is where the family home once stood. The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. “In July of 2008 when Merlin and Susan donated the land to the city after the home was demolished,” said Logan Parks and Recreation Director Russ Akina, “they requested the property be dedicated as a community park in honor of their parents, Lynn and Merle Olsen. “Susan, Merlin’s widow, will welcome everyone attending. Phil Olsen will make introductions followed by remarks by family members including Phil and his sister Colleen Olsen Davis, who lives next door to the park site. “Mayor Watts will have some concluding remarks.” Cache Chamber of Commerce personnel are involved in ribbon-cutting ceremonies throughout the year and will be on hand Monday, as well. Akina said the design of the half-acre park fits in nicely with the location. “It’s fitting, not only because of the location, but for the fact that the park named after their son, Merlin, is right across the street. Everyone is invited. Light refreshments will be provided.
