No decision on group home

There was a lot of input but still no decision Tuesday on Uinta Academy’s request to locate a group home for 12 adolescent girls with mental disabilities at 8135 South 3600 West in Mt. Sterling.Cache County Council Chairman Gordon Zilles told those attending that by federal law the facility will be allowed but the question is the number of girls allowed. If the number is four, no approval is needed; but with eight it needs the approval of the county Planning Commission and for as many as 12 county council approval is needed. Attorney Miles Jensen, who represented several neighbors opposed to the group home, said they feel Uinta Academy has mis-stated some of their claims, including the amount of traffic the facility would bring. The council decided to wait until the next meeting on March 9th to vote on the issue.
