Anderson remembered as man of vision

“A man with a great mind and immense vision.” That’s the way former Logan Mayor Desmond Anderson is described by former friend and neighbor Herm Olsen, a Logan attorney who now serves on the Logan Municipal Council. Anderson died Tuesday and his funeral will be held Monday at the Allen-Hall Mortuary. Olsen says Anderson was a professor at Southern California for years and he had a notion about where the people could be improved and how he could help. Olsen said Anderson put this in practice by running for and then serving as Logan Mayor for four years during the 1970’s. Olsen says he has the greatest respect for the former mayor who was a pillar in the community even in his declining years. A few years ago Olsen says Anderson and his wife Loila planted gladiolas on the barren hillside just off Temple Hill and then named the hillside “Gladiola Hill.” Anderson was the father of five children including Douglas Anderson, Dean of the Huntsman School of Business at USU.
