Motorcycle ride scheduled Saturday to honor fallen veterans

On Labor Day 2004 Lance Corporal Michael Allred of Hyde Park was killed in Iraq. His memory has been kept alive with the Michael Allred Foundation, created by his parents Brett and Zell Allred to establish college scholarships in his name. There is still time to register for the Third Annual Ride for the Fallen, a charity motorcycle ride coming up on Saturday, August 29th. Proceeds will go toward college scholarships in Michael Allred’s name. A 9:30 am patriotic meeting at North Logan’s Elk Ridge Park precedes the 130 mile ride. There is a 2 pm barbecue at the park where a memorial “Wall of Honor” with the names of more than 5,000 of the nation’s fallen military members on display. About 200 motorcycles are expected to participate and Brent will be riding one that previously belonged to Michael. Registration is $20 per person or $30 per couple.
