Hyrum City hands out special awards

Three special awards were presented to residents of Hyrum City Sunday night at a patriotic program which is part of Star Spangled Week in the city. Hyrum Mayor Dean Howard presented a special award to 81-year old Ivan Miller, a former mayor and former president of Tri-Miller Meat Packing Plant, recognizing him for his years of service to the Hyrum community.The Distinguished Citizen Award went to Lynne Coulam, a woman Mayor Howard says has worked for the city for more than three decades as treasurer, recorder, budget officer and in other capacities.Cordell Nielson was also honored for being chosen as Grand Marshal for this year’s Star Spangled Day parade which starts Saturday, July 4th on Hyrum’s Main Street.
