MS 150 bike ride continues through Sunday

Bicyclists from all over the region are in Cache Valley this weekend for the Harmons MS 150 Best Dam Bike Ride, which continues through Sunday. Hundreds of bicyclists will take to the roads of Cache Valley in this fundraising event for Multiple Sclerosis. Those who participate in the race raise money for every mile they ride and all dollars raised to toward helping to find a cure for MS. The Cache County Fairgrounds serves as headquarters for the event, with many “villages” for the different groups who have large teams riding in the race. Also taking place at the Fairgrounds are volleyball games, a dunk tank, food items and other contests such as a tire changing competition and live music. There are multiple route options for those participating in the MS 150. On Saturday, the longest of the routes is a 100-mile century route that runs a figure-eight around the valley, through Newton, crossing over Trenton and then through Franklin, Dayton, Weston, Cornish and Lewiston, back through Trenton and returning to the Fairgrounds. A lunch will be served in Lewiston for riders on this route. There also is a 70-mile route similar to the century route on Saturday, it skips the loop through Weston and Dayton. A 40-mile route also will be available on Saturday. On Sunday, the riders will tour the south end of the valley, with a 75-mile ride up and down Blacksmith Fork Canyon all the way to Hardware Ranch. A shorter route without the climb up Blacksmith Fork also will take place on Sunday. Motorists are advised to watch out for bicyclists on both days as there will be large packs of riders on many of the roads in Cache Valley. Full route information can be found on the
