Summerfest ‘Lookin’ Up’

The theme is “Lookin’ Up” and the Summerfest Arts Fair opens on Thursday, June 18th and continues through Saturday, June 20th on the Logan Tabernacle grounds. Before that comes the Plein Air Competition and Executive Director Marianne Sidwell says that’s where artists have three days, starting Monday June 15th, to go out anywhere in Cache Valley and paint something they seeSidwell says the artists will bring their canvass back for a juried competition and be available to be auctionend off at a reception. The reception is Wednesday, June 17th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the St. John’s Episcopal Church where all the art will be on display.On KVNU’s Crosstalk show, Sidwell said something new has been added this year, Plein Air Junior for younger artistic talent. She says once again Summerfest will be offering a lot of fine art, great food and entertainment along with some new attractions. It will also feature strolling stilt walkers, giant puppets, and a large buble tower along with the popular children’s art yard, quality entertainment with headliner concerts each evening. Sidwell says in a time of economic instability and financial concer, this free event is expected to be even more appreciated and universally enjoyed.
